TELC (The European Language Certificates) provides standardized, ALTE-accredited language examinations across all CEFR proficiency levels. Universally accepted by German embassies, state authorities, healthcare councils and universities, TELC certifications provide a practical, real-world assessment of German communication skills.
At Joon Immigration, TELC preparation is fully integrated into every level of our regular language training (A1 through C2). Our students practice level-appropriate section formats—such as Sprachbausteine (language elements/grammar gap fills), listening speed drills and oral presentation tasks—during standard class hours.
TELC structures its examinations according to specific candidate goals and professional pathways at each CEFR stage:
| TELC Level | Exam Format Name | Primary Usage & Recognition |
|---|---|---|
| TELC A1 | TELC Deutsch A1 / Start Deutsch 1 | Basic everyday communication. Accepted for German Spouse Visas and Family Reunification. |
| TELC A2 | TELC Deutsch A2 / A2 Schule | Elementary communication. Used for au pair programs and introductory vocational steps. |
| TELC B1 | TELC Deutsch B1 / Zertifikat Deutsch | Intermediate independence. Prerequisite for German citizenship naturalization and Ausbildung entry. |
| TELC B2 | TELC Deutsch B2 / TELC B2 Pflege | Professional fluency. B2 General is for corporate/engineering jobs; B2 Pflege is mandatory for healthcare workers. |
| TELC C1 | TELC Deutsch C1 Hochschule | Advanced academic level. Officially recognized across all German universities for direct degree enrollment. |
| TELC C2 | TELC Deutsch C2 | Near-native mastery. Required for high-level academic research, legal representation and medical specialists. |
Designed explicitly for registered nurses and medical staff. Focuses on clinical communication, patient intake dialogues, handover reports and specialized medical vocabulary required by German healthcare authorities.
Standardized academic examination recognized by the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) as proof of language eligibility for German-taught university studies.
Available at B1, B2 and C1 levels, focusing on commercial correspondence, corporate presentations, negotiation terms and formal business communication.
Regardless of the level, TELC exams evaluate both written and oral proficiency through two standardized sections:
| Test Section | Modules Included | Focus & Format |
|---|---|---|
| Written Examination (Schriftliche Prüfung) |
* Reading Comprehension (Lesen) * Language Elements (Sprachbausteine) * Listening (Hören) * Writing (Schreiben) |
Evaluates textual understanding, grammar precision (via multiple-choice gap fills), audio comprehension and structured letter/essay drafting. |
| Oral Examination (Mündliche Prüfung) |
* Presentation / Self-Introduction * Topic Discussion / Debate * Joint Task Planning |
Conducted as a paired or small-group discussion in front of two certified TELC examiners to measure natural conversational competence. |
